Recycling Collection

As a North German partner of the national recycling scheme for packaging waste ‘Duale System’, Nehlsen is responsible for the separate collection of recyclable materials, such as paper, cardboard, plastics and metals. As a member of Zentek, an organisation set up to provide an alternative nationwide service network for the collection of packaging waste, Nehlsen demonstrates commitment to environmental protection; as this organisation operates with a carbon neutral approach, i.e. each gram of CO₂ produced by the refuse collection vehicles is off-set through climate protection measure elsewhere.

Paper, card, plastics and metals are sold as individual post consumer waste streams, after separation has taken place in in-house separation plants. These vary in size and level of sophistication, depending on the materials collected. Nehlsen has experience in designing and constructing a range of separation plants and in finding markets for the recovered materials.
